A Time to Pause and Reflect

Although I missed my usual Wednesday post, I have not gone away. I am here, resting and reflecting – taking a break, doing mindless tasks like hovering over a jig saw puzzle, cooking up leftovers. I’ve surrendered to the desire to do nothing. I’ve fallen into its embrace trusting it is the right path right now.

The darkness of the season pulled me into its fold. I am content to pause and reflect on the past year. I am grateful for so much in my life; my family, my friends and, you, my readers. Your feedback lets me know I’m not writing in a vacuum. Thank you. Your comments and support fuel my commitment to use my photography and stories to touch hearts and celebrate the beauty of nature. Your words matter a lot to me.

I’m off to Kenya to lead a safari in two weeks. I can hardly wait! I will post an image once a week. The stories will follow when I return.

I wish you all the best for 2024. There is so much heartache in our world right now. I believe it is more important than ever to choose kindness in our interactions and care in our stewardship of where we live. Do not underestimate the impact of your efforts, love heals. Love can change the world.

Reteti is the only Indigenous owned and run elephant sanctuary in Africa. I look forward to introducing my safari group to the extraordinary people and the young elephants they care for at Reteti.
